The James Brand Warrick Is a Very Easy Pocket Tool to Like

The James Brand Warrick is one of those tools that makes immediate sense once you stop thinking about it like a full-size screwdriver and start thinking about it like a nicer thing to keep on you all the time.

It is a tiny bit driver built around the kind of jobs that actually come up when you are traveling, carrying camera gear, or just messing with everyday stuff. Tighten a plate, adjust a mount, swap a battery cover, fix one loose screw, move on. That is the whole appeal.

What I like here is the size. At 3.6 inches long and 1.9 ounces, the Warrick is small enough to disappear into a pocket, including the little coin pocket James Brand keeps talking about. A lot of compact tools still feel annoying to carry. This one looks much more realistic.

It also helps that it does not look like junk. The anodized aluminum body is clean, the shape is simple, and the whole thing feels more like a well-designed accessory than a desperate EDC novelty item. James Brand includes 4 WIHA bits, which is enough to make the tool useful out of the box without turning it into a bulky kit.

The obvious drawback is price. At $85, this is expensive for a small screwdriver, and there is no point pretending otherwise. If you just want the cheapest way to turn a screw once in a while, this is not the rational pick.

But that is also not really the point. The Warrick makes sense if you know you appreciate compact tools that are easy to carry, nicely made, and ready for the small jobs that always seem to pop up at the worst time.
